Easy Cookie Butter Recipe: Make it at Home

4 Nov

Get on the sideline for a while Nutella! Everyone I know, mom and kids alike are hyped over cookie butters. The first 2 jars we had were ordered via online -Speculoos Cookie Butter was the “King” of all cookie butters out there. @ Php450 a jar, and after emptying 2 jars in just a week, I said, “No more of that speculoos jar!”

I know a lot of moms out there too had this curiosity over this cookie butter – it became so popular it was Trader Joe’s best product in 2012. It’s hard to find them on our grocery outlet! Have you? Only the Biscoff brand and some lesser known brands were available. Instagram shops surely have a killing on profits!

No more. No more.

Instead, why not make our own cookie butter AT HOME! Anyways, it’s just easy to do. Cookie butters have become popular because it’s spreadable and has the consistency like peanut butter. Yet there hasn’t any peanuts in there. Instead, it’s made from cookies! Hence, the name :)

So, moms out there, let’s save more on buying pricey spreads -LET’S MAKE SOME!

What you’ll need

10-12 pcs of Oreo chocolate cookies
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (I only have corn oil in the pantry)
1 cup all-purpose cream
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Preparation

  • Pound 8 pieces of the Oreos by hand. Set aside.
  • In a food processor (or blender), place the cookies, add all the other ingredients. Blend just until it achieved a thick consistency. Mine was done in 2 minutes.
  • Crumble the remaining 4 Oreo cookies and blend into the cookie butter mix. This is if you want a la “speculoos crunchy cookie butter”.

Enjoy spreading your homemade cookie butter.

This is one great spread your kids (me too -I’M ADDICTED!!!) would surely like. It’s a great company when they’re doing school lessons.

Save your money – make this easy cookie butter recipe at home.

UPDATE: After posting this on Facebook, a friend asked, “No sugar added?” Yes. I scrapped the sugar because the cookies (and so with the vanilla filling) are sweet in itself. And one mom said, “That would be a perfect company for my kid’s milkshakes.” True.

So, go on with your creativeness, mommies.
